I created this video for FamilyCook Productions, to promote its Teen Iron Chef program which aims to cultivate health, leadership and teamwork in teens by teaching nutrition and cooking.
Last year the Teen Iron Chefs at the Urban Assembly School of Music and Art were so enthusiastic about the program that they began volunteering with CENYC’s Youthmarkets program. They set up cooking demonstrations at farmers’ markets, and talked with shoppers about health and local food. I was very impressed by the effect the program had on these kids – they were so genuinely energetic, positive, self-aware, and articulate about the impact of being a Teen Iron Chef.
